What We Believe

What We Believe

At Grace Beyond the Surface, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is accurate, trustworthy, and the final authority for all matters of life and faith. We read and study it carefully, using translations such as the New King James Version, the English Standard Version, and the New Living Translation.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105)

God

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign over all.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to atone for our sins, rose again on the third day, and ascended to heaven. He now reigns with all authority and will one day return to judge and restore.
(John 1:1–14; Luke 1:26–35; Hebrews 4:15; Philippians 2:9–11; Colossians 1:15–20; Matthew 28:18; Revelation 22:12)

The Authority of Jesus

We believe Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. His words are life, and His commands are to be obeyed.
(Matthew 28:18–20; John 14:6; John 15:10)

Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Works do not earn it, but require repentance and trust. When we turn to Him, we are made new.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10; Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 2:11–12)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every true believer. He teaches, convicts, comforts, and empowers us to live in obedience to God. The gifts of the Spirit continue today, and we walk with discernment, knowing that not every expression is genuine.
(John 14:26; Romans 8:9,14; Galatians 5:22–25; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; 1 Thessalonians 5:19–21)

The Church

We believe the Church is both a local community and the global body of believers. It is not a building or a denomination, but rather those who belong to Christ. As one body with many members, we gather to worship, encourage, and grow together in love and truth.
(1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Ephesians 4:4–6; Hebrews 10:24–25)

Baptism and Communion

We believe baptism is a response of obedience and is integral to our salvation. It represents our death to sin and new life in Christ. We share in communion as a personal act of remembrance, honouring the sacrifice of Jesus together as the Church.
(Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; Romans 6:3–4; Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)

The Return of Jesus

We believe Jesus will return as He promised. There will be a time of trial and tribulation, and everyone will stand before Him. Those who have followed Him will be with Him forever. Those who have rejected Him will be eternally separated from His presence. We take His words about the narrow gate seriously, knowing that walking with Him means surrendering to Him on a daily basis.
(Matthew 24:29–31; Revelation 20:11–15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 7:13–14; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:15–17; Daniel 7:13–14; Daniel 12:1–2)
